Police are looking for a man who pulled a knife on a woman working alone in a Hawke's Bay dairy he robbed.

The man entered the Onekawa Dairy on Maadi Road just after 8pm on Thursday, confronted the woman working there with a small knife and demanded cash and cigarettes.

He put the items into a satchel he was carrying and made the woman lie on the ground and tied her hands behind her back before running from the dairy.

The man was wearing dark shorts and the hood of his top was up. He also covered his face with cloth.

Police are asking people with information and witnesses to come forward.
