Illawarra Hawks player Kevin White has been charged with unreasonable contact to the face after an incident during his side's NBL win over the New Zealand Breakers.

The NBL game review panel reviewed an incident from Friday's match between White and Breakers guard David Stockton.

The charge was classified as careless, low impact and high contact and carries a base penalty of a $A500 ($NZ524) fine.

If White accepts an early guilty plea the penalty will be reduced to a fine of $A375 with no suspension.

The panel reviewed the incident after a request from the Breakers on Monday.

White has until Thursday to respond to the charge.
