Hayden Panettiere is seeking treatment for postpartum depression, her representative confirmed to Us Weekly on Tuesday.

“Hayden Panettiere is voluntarily seeking professional help at a treatment center as she is currently battling postpartum depression," the statement read. "She asks that the media respect her privacy during this time."

Postpartum depression affects moms after childbirth and symptoms can include mood swings, withdrawing from family, difficulty bonding with your baby, fatigue, anxiety and thoughts of self-harm, according to Mayo Clinic.

The 26-year-old gave birth to a baby girl last December, whom she welcomed with fiancé Wladimir Klitschko. Last month, she opened up about her experience with postpartum depression, something her character on "Nashville," Juliette Barnes, also deals with.

"There’s a lot of misunderstanding and I feel like there’s a lot of people out there who think that it’s not real, that it’s not true, that it’s something that’s made up in their mind," she said during an interview on "Live with Kelly and Michael." "And, 'Oh, it’s hormones' and they kind of brush it off and it’s not true. It’s something that’s completely uncontrollable and it’s really painful and it’s really scary and women need a lot of support."

Other celebrities who have struggled with postpartum depression include Gwyneth Paltrow, Brooke Shields, Amanda Peet and Courteney Cox.
