Hayne close to Titans comeback in NRL

Jarryd Hayne is likely to make his return to the NRL in round eight when the Gold Coast take on Cronulla.

Hayne has been on the sidelines since damaging the ligaments in his ankle during the Titans' round two clash against Newcastle.

The 29-year-old has shown glimpses of his best form since linking with the Titans in August last year and that has been enough to have his teammates eagerly anticipating his comeback.

"He brings a lot of leadership, he's played 170 odd NRL games so it will be good to have him back," prop Leivaha Pulu said on Monday.

Winger Anthony Don, who returned from an injured shoulder last weekend, believes Hayne will make a big impact for the Titans.

"Jarryd is such a good player and everyone knows how good he is, we can't wait to get him back on the field," Don said.

However, the only win of the Titans season came while Hayne was out injured, against the ex-NFL player's former club Parramatta in round three.

Hayne has scored one try and was unable to break the line in the 110 minutes he has played in 2017.

The Titans average four-and-a-half line breaks a game without Hayne and only three with him on the field.
