Hillary Clinton handily won the Democratic primary in Arkansas Tuesday, a welcome -- yet unsurprising -- result in a state where she served as first lady for more than a decade.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) largely conceded the state to her early on. Clinton has campaigned there four times since last summer, and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, frequently returns to his home state. Sanders, by contrast, did not visit the state at all, according to the Arkansas Democratic Party.

The Clinton connections to Arkansas remain strong, and she has tapped into that network for her primary run. Eighty-six people who call themselves the Arkansas Travelers went up to New Hampshire and helped knock on doors and get out the vote for Clinton for that state's primary. They've been helping out the Clintons since the 1992 election. Hillary Clinton beat Barack Obama by 43 points in Arkansas in 2008.

Thirty-two delegates were at stake in Tuesday's primary.
