A school in Texas is investigating vile images of pupils doing a Nazi salute and shouting 'Heil Hitler! eail Trump!' during a class photo.

The children, aged 17 and 18, were posing for their 'senior year' class picture, when Americans finish their high school education.

Witnesses said up to 70 pupils were involved.

"It was pretty terrifying," one said.

The image was widely condemned after being share on social media.

A pupil told KPRC Channel 2, the photographer had asked the class to adopt a 'funny' pose for one of the pictures.

Bosses at Cypress Ranch School, near Houston, were not amused and have promised an investigation.

In am email sent to parents, the principal said: "This letter is to make you aware of a situation that occurred on our campus today while our senior class was taking a large group panoramic picture.

"Several of our students made the poor choice of displaying inappropriate gestures during this time."

"Unfortunately, many of these images have been shared on social media.

"This is extremely disappointing as this is not an accurate representation of our student body."

"We are currently conducting an investigation and those implicated will be punished according to the Student Code of Conduct."

It comes after a speech by a white supremacist celebrating Donald Trump's victory sparked Nazi salutes last year.

Richard Spencer, a self-acclaimed leader of the 'alt-Right' movement, made references to Nazism and claimed the US is a "white country".

Spencer was punched live on camera while doing an interview at Trump's inauguration.
