The herd, potentially worth up to $1 million - was stolen from an Ashburton property over a period of months, it was revealed last month.

On Friday, police searched the home of a "person of interest" in Ashburton.

But they say no one has been arrested and a dedicated team working on the "complex" theft is continuing the investigation.

Farm administrator Pennie Ormsby-Saunders reported the cows' disappearance in August but has said she believed the chances of the cows being recovered is slim.
