Jacob Pakura © Facebook Jacob Pakura Police are going door-to-door after an unsuccessful appeal to find a driver who hit and killed a 16-year-old skateboarder in Auckland.

The teen was rushed to hospital after being struck in New Lynn on Saturday night, but died from his injuries.

Police say despite a public appeal for the driver to come forward, nobody had.

Officers are now appealing for anyone in the Rua Road area with CCTV footage to contact them.

The accident is believed to have happened on Saturday between 11.30pm and midnight.

"Several members of the public have called police with information and this is being assessed," a police spokeswoman said.

"The family of the victim are devastated and police and victim support are doing everything possible to support them during this time."

Police earlier asked family members, mechanics, panel beaters or handypersons who have been asked to fix a car that could have been involved in a crash, or if the driver seemed suspicious, to come forward.
