Centre Konrad Hurrell has been released by the Warriors, ending speculation over the blockbusting centre's future at the NRL club.

Hurrell, 24, has played just three times for the Auckland club this season and was one of the six players stood down from first grade after a late night out four weeks ago.

The Tonga international was contracted until the end of 2018, but club managing director Jim Doyle says agreement was reached for an immediate release after discussions with the player and his management.

"We would like to thank Konrad for his contribution since coming into our development system," Doyle said in a statement.

"He has been a popular member of the club and we wish him all the best for the future."

Hurrell made his NRL debut in 2012 and has played 71 times for the Warriors, scoring 41 tries.

He said he had mixed emotions at first about leaving the Warriors but was now excited as he looked forward to the rest of his career.

He thanked the Warriors for what they had done for him and helping him develop as a league player.

"I'm grateful to all the boys I have played alongside, all the people at the club and also the members and fans," he said.

Among the clubs Hurrell has been linked with are British Super League outfit Hull Kingston Rovers and NRL sides Gold Coast and Manly.
