Hurricane Jane off to Japan

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 30/06/2016

Former All Black winger Cory Jane is to play club rugby in Japan, but he won't be turning his back on the Hurricanes.

The 33-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Toshiba and will join the club at the end of the Super Rugby season - ruling him out of action for the Wellington Lions in the national provincial championship.

But he we will back in Hurricanes colours for the 2017 season.

"I'm looking forward to playing in Japan and to experiencing a new culture and taking on a new challenge," he said.

"It was important to me that I honoured the remaining year on my Hurricanes contract and of course that I was sure I was doing what was best for my family. To have achieved both of those things is great."

Jane will join former All Blacks Richard Kahui and Liam Messam as well as Chiefs No.8 Michael Leitch at Toshiba.
