NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 27/06/2016

Seven years after the death of an Upper Hutt baby, her father has admitted her manslaughter.

Tawera Wesley Wichman, 24, appeared in the High Court at Wellington on Tuesday where he entered the guilty plea. He will be sentenced next month.

His daughter Teegan Tairoa-Wichman was born premature along with her twin sister in 2008, but she died 11 months later in Hutt Hospital.

Police began investigating on behalf of the coroner but charges were not laid until 2013, Fairfax reports.
