I can make it in Super Rugby: Keary

Under-fire South Sydney NRL playmaker Luke Keary has declared himself capable of making a successful conversion to rugby union and expects to make a decision in the next fortnight on his future.

The off-contract 24-year-old made a point about his worth when he scored the match-winning try for the Rabbitohs in Friday's pressure-relieving 22-20 win over Parramatta at Pirtek Stadium.

After being relegated to the bench, to make way for skipper Greg Inglis' switch to five-eighth, Keary tore the game open after being injected into the contest.

Keary said he hoped to have his future sorted in the next two to four weeks and was giving real consideration to a code switch to rugby.

"I played rugby union from when I was 13 until I was 18 and then I came over to rugby league," Keary said.

"I'd probably say I played it more then when I was younger. I was lucky enough to go over to rugby league and have a successful conversion."

The Ipswich product is reportedly being courted by Super Rugby franchises the Queensland Reds and NSW Waratahs.

While not having played the 15-man game since his teens, he said he was capable of making the switch.

"At the highest level, it's a difficult thing but I'd back myself," Keary said.

Keary is rumoured to be unhappy at Redfern after a pre-season bust-up with club co-owner Russell Crowe during a pre-season bonding session.

After fending off a challenge from Cody Walker for a starting spot in the opening rounds, he was asked to come off the bench on Friday night by coach Michael Maguire.

Keary said he had several clubs, across both codes, chasing his signature.

While he said he was using his move back to the bench as motivation to prove a point, he was not kicking stones and declared himself a team man through and through.

"I'm just happy to do what's best for the team, seriously," Keary said.

"Whether it's starting or whatever. I just want the team to win footy games. It doesn't really bother me.
