Inaugural Auckland flower show postponed

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 7/07/2016

The inaugural New Zealand Flower and Garden Show has been postponed for a year due to consent issues.

The Auckland show, which is set as a replacement for the Ellerslie Flower Show that moved to Christchurch in 2008, was expected to bring exhibitors from around the world.

Director Kate Hiller says organisers discovered the event triggered several clauses in the Reserve Board Act, which required a longer application period.

"Regrettably this will cause a delay that is not tenable for the success of the show this year."

The show is now scheduled to run from November 22 - 26, 2017.
