West Indies have slumped to 7-157 at tea on the third day of their first Test against India after losing the key wicket of Carlos Brathwaite.

The opener fell for 74 to quick Umesh Yadav.

West Indies started the session on 3-90 but lost Marlon Samuels (1) and Jermaine Blackwood (0) to paceman Mohammed Shami soon after lunch to leave the hosts on 5-92. Shami has 4-41.

Roston Chase proved tougher before he too fell for 23 off the bowling of Yadav with the West Indies on 139.

West Indies still require 209 runs to avoid the follow on as India look to dismiss the tail in Saturday's final session.

West Indies resumed overnight on 1-31 after India declared at 8-566 in their first innings.
