Infrastructure projects top $100 billion

Finance minister Bill English © Bloomberg Finance minister Bill English Infrastructure projects costing more than $100 billion are expected to be undertaken by central government, local government and the private sector over the next decade.

Finance Minister Bill English on Friday released the Ten Year Capital Intentions Plan, revealing 3823 projects in the 2016-2025 pipeline.

Of the 3823 projects, 219 belong to central government and are valued at $40.5b, 3559 belong to local government and are valued at $51.1b, and 45 projects belong to the private sector at a value of $9.2b.

"Publishing this information offers transparency and provides businesses with greater certainty about current and future infrastructure provision," Mr English said.
