Injured Ibini unlikely to play GF: Arnie

Sydney FC winger Bernie Ibini is unlikely to overcome a hamstring injury in time to play Sunday's A-League grand final, admits coach Graham Arnold.

Ibini has been touch and go since hurting his hamstring late in Saturday's 3-0 semi-final win over Perth.

Club medical staff have been doing all they can for the 24-year-old, but four days out from the Allianz Stadium showpiece he's up against it to take his place on the bench against Melbourne Victory.

"It's not looking great," Arnold said on Wednesday.

"But we'll give it right up until the final moment, because obviously he's had wonderful impact off the bench for us all year.

"Physios are working around the clock with him - we've got the day off today and he's in getting treatment."

To miss out would be horrible luck for Ibini, who is back with the Sky Blues on loan from Club Brugge and has only just resurrected himself from a badly broken leg suffered during his first pre-season in Belgium.

Before that ill-fated move abroad, Ibini played in Sydney's last grand final two years ago, a 3-0 loss to Victory at AAMI Park.

"It's the cards he's been dealt and it will make him stronger in the long run," Arnold said.

Newly crowned A-League goalkeeper of the year Danny Vukovic missed training early this week with a head cold, but the coach confirmed he'd return on Thursday and would be "100 per cent" fine to take his place between the posts.

"He's no problem at all," Arnold said.

"They're not going to get any fitter now, so it was about keeping him away from the rest of the players so he doesn't bring it into camp."
