NZ Newswire logoNZ Newswire 15/06/2017

Owen Farrell has been ruled out of the British and Irish Lions' rugby match against the Maori All Blacks because of a training ground injury.

The England first five-eighth, who had been included on the bench, suffered a grade-one quad strain.

His replacement in Rotorua on Saturday night will be Wales' Dan Biggar.

The injury means Farrell is in a race to be fit and in contention for the first Test against the All Blacks in just over a week in Auckland.
