Injured Moulds out for rest of season

Jess Moulds © Jess Moulds A serious knee injury to Silver Ferns squad member Jess Moulds has ended her netball season prematurely.

The 26-year-old defender suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage to her left knee playing for New Zealand A against England last week.

The damage is expected to sideline her for six to nine months, putting her in doubt for next year's national league campaign with the Mainland Tactix.

New Zealand coach Janine Southby says Moulds is desperately unlucky, having previously been sidelined for a considerable period when she damaged her Achilles tendon in 2014.

"This is devastating news for Jess. She had a strong 2016 and had been performing well for NZA against the touring international teams," Southby said.

"Jess is a tough and determined player; I know she'll dedicate herself to her rehabilitation and come back stronger."

The injury is also a blow for the Tactix, who have also lost the services next year of international shooting duo Bailey Mes and Mwai Kumwenda, who are shifting to other clubs.

Moulds was vice captain of the Tactix in her third season this year, following her inclusion in Southby's inaugural squad unveiled last December.
