Injured Ninkovic OK for semi: Arnold

Graham Arnold insists star playmaker Milos Ninkovic will be fit for Sydney FC's A-League semi-final despite hobbling off the field during Saturday's final-round match with an ankle injury.

The Sky Blues' Premiers Plate celebrations at Allianz Stadium were tempered by the prospect of losing the Johnny Warren Medal favourite and galvanising force behind their remarkable season.

Ninkovic was clearly in severe pain after Newcastle midfielder Ben Kantarovski recklessly tackled him from behind 18 minutes from time in Sydney's 2-0 win.

The Serbian midfielder spent several minutes on the turf before limping straight up the tunnel for medical treatment and did not reappear for the team's post-match presentation.

It was a worrying sight a fortnight before Sydney's home semi-final but Arnold was adamant the injury was not as serious as it looked.

"His ankle is a little bit sore... it's a little bit swollen," Arnold said.

"He didn't want to come out because he didn't want to hobble around.

"But it's a good sign when he can walk off the pitch.

"He'll be fine. We've got that week off and he'll be ready."

The injury came after Ninkovic scored Sydney's opening goal against the Jets, his ninth of the campaign.
