Serie A club Inter Milan have sacked coach Frank de Boer.

Inter Milan have sacked coach Frank de Boer with the team languishing 12th in Serie A having lost five of 11 matches.

The Nerazzurri crashed 1-0 at Sampdoria on Sunday in their fourth defeat from the past five.

They trail league leaders Juventus by 13 points despite one of their four season victories coming against the reigning title holders.

Youth coach Stefano Vecchi has been appointed interim boss and will lead the squad into Thursday's Europa League trip to Southampton.

The club was said to be considering Stefano Pioli, formerly at Lazio, as De Boer's replacement, with Francesco Guidolin, Andrea Mandorlini and Andre Villas-Boas also being mooted.

The Dutchman De Boer took over in August from Roberto Mancini. In June, the Nerazzurri changed ownership as Indonesian media magnate Erick Thohir, who remained as president, sold a controlling share to China's Suning Holdings Group.
