Invercargill teen a true 'cow girl'

Southland teen Hannah Simpson can often be seen riding her beloved Lilac around their Invercargill farm, along roads, down rivers and over jumps.

But they're not you're average pony club pair - Lilac is a cow.

The brown Swiss dairy cow has loved jumping from the beginning and when Hannah wasn't allowed a horse she had to improvise.

"I've always loved adventure and I wanted a horse but I wasn't allowed one - so I think it was actually a dare from my younger brother so I just jumped on and I went," Hannah, 18, told NewsHub.

She began riding the six-year-old cow five years ago and doesn't plan on stopping any time soon, with plenty more adventures to be had.

"It depends on her mood I guess - sometimes she loves going up the road and down the river. She gets bored being ridden on the farm so new places she loves," Hannah said.
