Young centre Jack Goodhue has extended his contract with the Crusaders until 2019.

Goodhue, 21, joined the Crusaders last year but was out of action for most of the season with a knee injury.

New Crusaders coach Scott Robertson said Goodhue had shown his potential when playing for both the Canterbury and New Zealand under-20 teams, as well as the All Blacks Sevens.

"Jack is a remarkable young man, with maturity beyond his years both on and off the field," Robertson said.

"He's had a rough run in the last couple of years, with a concussion curtailing his 2014 season for Canterbury and then the knee injury in the second game of the 2015 provincial season.

"But I firmly believe he is one of our most exciting rising stars."
