Jetlagged Van Gisbergen cool at Winton

Holden driver Shane Van Gisbergen's future is bright, but that's not the reason he donned shades during Friday's Supercars practice at Winton.

The Red Bull Racing ace wore sunglasses to combat the low sun at the central Victorian circuit during the evening session, an old school move made famous decades ago by a Ford legend.

"I felt like Dick Johnson," Van Gisbergen said.

"Just not as fast.

"I didn't have time to put a visor on but I saw how low the sun was - yeah, went old school."

Van Gisbergen's decision to put on the shades might also have had something to do with his jetlagged state.

The New Zealander flew to England following the previous event at Perth earlier this month, arriving back in Australia just a couple of days before jumping back into his Commodore at Winton.

"I don't really know what time it is at the moment," he said.

"Everything's a bit out of whack, but it's all good, did a few more laps today just to get used to it."
