Warriors coach Andrew McFadden has denied star halfback Shaun Johnson is still carrying a thigh injury.

The 25-year-old appeared a yard off the pace in his side's golden-point loss to the Raiders last week and is yet to resume goalkicking after straining his quad in June.

McFadden told reporters on Wednesday that Johnson was slowly strengthening the affected quad and would improve in the weeks ahead.

"There's probably some things where he can go a little bit quicker but for most, he's creating a lot of opportunities for us," McFadden said.

"He's getting around the field, working both sides."

McFadden said his side had failed to capitalise on Johnson's assists throughout Saturday's match in Canberra and had to improve its attacking execution.

The Warriors are in ninth place with six games to play.
