Judoka Darcina Manuel is off to the Olympic Games after having her spot in the New Zealand team confirmed.

The Perth-based 23-year-old, who hails from Gisborne, will compete in the women's 57km division in Rio in August.

"I'm thrilled to be selected into the team today and can't wait to put everything together to make it work and represent New Zealand in Rio," she said.

"For 16 years, I've been working towards this goal and it means the world to me."

Manuel competed in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where she claimed bronze.

Her build-up to Rio has included winning gold at this year's Oceania championships in Canberra.

Her inclusion brings the New Zealand team size for Rio to 104, with weightlifting, rugby sevens and women's hockey selection announcements expected in the coming weeks.
