Junior doctors and DHB reach settlement

The country's junior doctors and the district health boards have agreed to a settlement in their contract negotiations.

The NZ Resident Doctors Association says it will proceed to ratification by its members after the DHB bargaining team recommends settlement to chief executives at a meeting on Thursday.

The settlement of the Multi-Employer Collective Agreement (MECA) comes after the parties had been at loggerheads over working conditions.

The RDA had argued that the rosters and hours its members were being made to work were unsafe.

Junior doctors went on strike in October and in January in support of their demands.
