A Kiwi television actor accused of indecently assaulting and sexually violating his acting students is standing trial on Monday.

The man, whose name, age and ethnicity cannot be published, pleaded not guilty to two charges of sexual violation and four charges of indecent assault.

The alleged offending took place between 2010 and 2013 against four adult, female acting students the man was teaching.

The trial jury was selected at the Auckland District Court on Monday morning but evidence will not be called until Wednesday.

A suppression on the man's identity was extended until the verdict to protect his career.

Judge David Sharp declined all media applications to film or photograph the man.

The trial is expected to go two weeks.
