Kate Bush classic celebrated around world

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 16/07/2016

New Zealand is first in the world again - this time dancing up a storm in billowy-sleeved red dresses in a homage to the Kate Bush classic Wuthering Heights.

It was a sunny wintry day at Waitangi Park in Wellington on Saturday, with no wind to conjure up the atmosphere of a moor, but the "Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever" event went off well.

The Ultimate Kate Bush Experience first took place in Brighton, England, in 2013 when 300 dancers in red dresses turned up to recreate the classic Wuthering Heights video. The dance went viral on YouTube.

Organisers Shambush have signed thousands up for 17 similar crowd dances on Saturday, starting in cities in New Zealand and Australia.

A video of the Wellington event is doing the rounds on social media.

Bush released Wuthering Heights as her debut single in 1978. It became a No.1 hit on the UK singles chart and rates highly in charts of all-time favourites.
