Kelly suspended by Hull KR

Press AssociationPress Association 3/09/2016

Albert Kelly's chequered career has sufffered a new setback with the former Cronulla, Gold Coast and Newcastle playmaker suspended by Hull KR for failing to return from a trip to Australia on time.

Kelly, who was sacked by the Sharks and the Knights following off-field incidents, infuriated the Super League club's head of rugby Jamie Peacock after missing the build-up to Saturday's crucial Super 8s qualifier against Leigh.

"Albert's actions have been very disappointing ahead of such a significant game and we have taken the decision as a club to suspend him with immediate effect," said Peacock.

"We will be speaking further with Albert and his agent over the coming week to reinforce our expectations and in the meantime we have every faith in the likes of Maurice Blair and Matty Marsh to step up and do the job.

"There will be no further comment at this stage."
