Kennett joins Tour of Southland field

Kennett joins four-time winner and fellow Olympic team pursuit squad member Hayden Roulston and double Olympic rowing champion Hamish Bond in the event.

He will lead the Adair Craik Accounting Team to thank the Oamaru accountant for the support she has given him through his cycling career.

Kennett plans to use the tour as part of his endurance training.

The winner of a rainbow jersey in the team pursuit at the 2015 world track championships, he also wants to pass on his experience.

"The team consists mostly of younger riders, many of whom will be riding the tour for the first time," he said.

"I really want to pass on what I have learnt over the past six years and enjoy the camaraderie."

This tour, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary, will run from October 30 to November 5 over 900km through Southland and Otago.
