Tall Ferns coach Kennedy Kereama has stuck with the tried and true in naming his team charged with qualifying for next year's basketball World Cup in Spain.

Eight players in the side were also in the squad which contested last year's Olympic qualifying tournament in France

"There is a very experienced core group of international basketball players in this squad and I believe they will lead the way," Kereama said.

"We believe that this squad will give us our best chance of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Spain."

Experienced small forward Natalie Taylor returns following the birth of her first child, while Kereama has also included rookies Georgia Agnew, Zara Jillings and Rebecca Ott with an eye to future development.

The Tall Ferns will contest the William Jones Cup in Taiwan on July 5-9, taking on Japan, South Korea, India, Taiwan and Taiwan B before travelling to Singapore then on to the Asia Cup tournament in Bengaluru from July 23-29.

New Zealand has been drawn in Pool A alongside perennial powerhouse China, Taiwan and North Korea. The top four teams from the tournament qualify for next year's World Cup.

Cambridge 15-year-old Charlisse Leger-Walker missed the final cut, but has been listed as a non-travelling reserve alongside older sister Krystal.

Tall Ferns: Georgia Agnew, Jessica Bygate, Micaela Cocks, Toni Farnworth, Deena Franklin, Jillian Harmon, Zara Jillings, Rebecca Ott, Chevannah Palvaast , Kalani Purcell, Erin Rooney, Josephine Stockill, Natalie Taylor.

Non-travelling reserves: Tea Charlton, Charlisse Leger-Walker, Krystal Leger-Walker, Kayla Manuirirangi, Katelin Noyer.
