Key heading to Indonesia to boost links

Prime Minister John Key © Getty Images Prime Minister John Key Prime Minister John Key is heading to Indonesia later this month for a two-day visit aimed at boosting economic and political links between the two countries.

Mr Key will have formal talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo and business, education and renewable energy issues are likely to be on the agenda.

"Indonesia is an important regional partner for New Zealand and a key player in Asia-Pacific," Mr Key said.

"It is New Zealand's 13th largest two-way trade partner and we see huge potential to build that relationship further."

The prime minister will be accompanied by Trade Minister Todd McClay and a senior New Zealand business delegation.
