Kidwell names Kiwis assistants

Dumped NZ Warriors assistant coach Justin Morgan will serve as new Kiwis boss David Kidwell's deputy.

Morgan and former Kiwis forward Willie Poching will coach the backs and forwards for New Zealand's Test against Australia next month and the Four Nations tournament in the United Kingdom.

"Both of these guys are great people who will complement my coaching style," said Kidwell.

Morgan had one season as assistant at the NRL club before losing his job in a post-season coaching shake-up which installed former Kiwis mentor Stephen Kearney as head coach.

Both deputies have a host of coaching experience: Morgan was head coach of Hull Kingston Rovers and held assistant positions with Melbourne Storm and Canberra Raiders, while Poching has spent the last six years as an assistant coach with Warrington Wolves, Leeds Rhinos and Hull Kingston Rovers.

Kidwell, who worked under Kearney as assistant for three years before his appointment to the top job, will name the full Kiwis squad after this weekend's NRL Grand Final.
