Top seed Joelle King emerged from in a hard-fought final to win a PSA World Tour event in Hong Kong.

New Zealander King beat third-seeded Indian Joshna Chinappa 11-9 11-9 9-11 11-9 and said she was relieved to quell a dogged opponent in the HKFC International decider.

"She didn't back down at all and she's come through a couple of tough five-set matches so I was really happy to get off there in four," King said.

King's world ranking of ninth meant she missed out on competing at the concurrent PSA world series finals. The rich tournament in Dubai featured the world's eight best men and women.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's Paul Coll reached the men's final in Hong Kong but was beaten inside an hour by Malaysian third seed Nafiizwan Adnan 11-6 11-8 11-8.

Fifth-seeded Coll is set to continue his climb up the world rankings, having improved to 37th on the back of some strong results over the last six months.
