New Zealand 49er sailors Josh Porebski and Trent Rippey have been joined at the top of the leaderboard at the Kiel Week regatta in Germany.

Overnight leaders following the first three races, they picked up a 10th and a 3rd-place finish on day two.

They sit on 15 points following the qualifying phase of the regatta, the same as Australians David Gilmour and Joel Turner.

The fleet is reduced in size from 69 to 25 boats for five further races before a top-10 medal race.

Elsewhere, Kiwis Alex Maloney and Molly Meech have dropped one place to fourth in 48-strong fleet of 49erFX boats.

Placings of 3rd, 11th and 2nd on Thursday left the Olympic silver medallists on 21 points, 10 behind German leaders Victoria Jurczok and Anika Lorenz.
