New Zealand boxer Robert Berridge is one win away from fighting for a light-heavyweight world title.

Berridge will face the World Boxing Association's interim champion Dmitry Bivol in Perm, Russia on February 23.

If successful against the unbeaten Russian (8-0), Berridge would be guaranteed a title challenge against American champion Andre Ward.

The 32-year-old from Whanganui has won 29 of his 35 professional fights since 2009, including 21 by knockout.

He has lodged wins over New Zealand opponents Sam Rapira and Adrian Taihia in the last four months but before that was well beaten by world class Canadian Eleider Alvarez.
