Kiwi eventers Joe Meyer and Tim Price have barely fired a shot to finish down the field in the first four-star event of the year in the United States.

Meyer was 22nd at the Kentucky three-day event in Lexington and Tim Price 36th as German Olympic champion Michael Jung powered to a third successive triumph on board Fischerrocana FST.

Beijing Olympian Meyer slipped four places in Sunday's showjumping phase after his mount Clip Clop knocked down five rails to accrue 20 penalty points.

Rio Olympian Price was better on Ringwood Sky Boy, knocking down two rails to improve one place to 36th in an original field of 59.

Price paid for modest efforts in the dressage and cross country phases.
