NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 5/06/2016

Brook Macdonald was the best of the New Zealanders in a crash-laden third round of the mountain bike downhill World Cup in Scotland.

Hawke's Bay rider Macdonald was 11th in Fort William, claiming the early lead with his time of 4min 44.345sec after a conservative qualifying run.

Kiwi Ed Masters qualified second fastest but fell twice in the top section of the course.

George Brannigan was eighth in qualifying but crashed heavily on the final jump.

Several other leading candidates also failed to finish, leaving South African Greg Minnaar to claim victory.
