Olympians Tim Price and Joe Meyer are the lone Kiwis to contest the first international four-star event of the year in Lexington, Kentucky.

Rio Olympian Price will ride Ringwood Sky Boy while Beijing Olympic veteran Meyer is on board Clip Clop.

Price hopes spending his northern hemisphere winter months showjumping on the Sunshine Tour in Spain will hold him and his 14-year-old mount in good stead.

"Ringwood Sky Boy is feeling very fit up the gallops," he said.

"I think competing in Spain has contributed a lot of fitness and jumping preparation to all our horses. We have been very impressed with how they have come back feeling fitter and stronger."

Price was second in Kentucky in 2015, riding Wesko.

Ringwood Sky Boy will make his debut at the event but is no stranger to four-star competition. His best results were second and fourth in his last two starts at the Burghley Horse Trials.

Clip Clop will make a four-star debut for US-based Meyer, who has narrowly failed to finish in the top-10 in his two previous Kentucky campaigns.

German world No.1 and Olympic champion Michael Jung is chasing a hat-trick of wins at Kentucky, aboard mare FischerRocana FST.
