NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 26/05/2016

New Zealand riders have snared two junior titles at the BMX world championships in Medellin, Colombia.

Aucklander Sacha Earnest clinched her third world title, winning the 10 years girls competition while Cambridge's Leila Walker won the 11 years girls gold medal.

Two other medals were won by Kiwi siblings. Jack Greenough was second in the 11 years boys competition and sister Lily third in nine years competition.

New Zealand will field three riders in elite competition beginning on Saturday.

London Olympic silver medallist Sarah Walker is the lone woman, where she is seeking a prominent performance to force selection for the Rio Games.

Matt Cameron and Michael Bias are in the men's field, with Kiwi No.1 Trent Jones absent after suffering a shoulder injury during the World Cup in the Netherlands earlier this month.
