Knight cleared for Wildcats' NBL deciders

NZN 22/02/2017 Theo Katsaros

Forward Matt Knight is free to suit up for the Perth Wildcats in the NBL grand final series after a suspended ban was imposed on him for unduly rough play.

The NBL's independent tribunal charged White after he appeared to deliberately hit Cairns Taipans' Travis Trice in the head with the ball in game two of their semi-final series on Monday.

Facing a base penalty of a two-game suspension, 31-year-old Knight plead guilty at the tribunal on Wednesday and was handed a two-game suspended ban after he and his counsel conceded that his conduct was "stupid".

Knight was also fined $1,000 and ordered to provide Trice with a written apology.

The 31-year-old is available for game one of the five-game grand final series against Adelaide or Illawarra on Sunday.

The NBL's tribunal also fined Illawarra's AJ Ogilvy and Adelaide's Eric Jacobsen on Wednesday, with Ogilvy accepting an early guilty plea for tripping in game two of the Hawks' semi-final series against the 36ers.

He has been fined $375, and so too has Jacobsen, for a striking charge that occurred in game one.
