Knight shrugs off NBL shoulder pain

Perth NBL forward Matt Knight is confident he can battle through the pain of a bung left shoulder, saying he's not putting himself at risk of a more-serious injury.

Knight feared his Wildcats season was over earlier this month when he re-injured his left shoulder during a loss to the Kings in Sydney.

It was the same shoulder he had surgery on during the pre-season.

Scans cleared Knight of any structural damage, but the shoulder had remained painful since.

Knight made it through Sunday's loss to the Illawarra Hawks, scoring 17 points in 25 minutes of court time.

He'll suit up again in Thursday night's clash with the Brisbane Bullets at Perth Arena.

Knight has taken painkillers in a bid to ease the soreness, but says it isn't an issue that will stop him playing.

"Once the game starts, I just try to put it out of my mind," Knight said.

"It can be painful at times if I do get hit.

"But I know I can't do any more damage to it, so I just try to put it in the back of my mind.

"I did it all last season, so I know I can do it."

Two losses on the trot have left the Wildcats' hold on second spot looking frail.

The ladder is so tight at the moment, only three wins separate first from eighth.

Wildcats coach Trevor Gleeson was so angry with his team's loss to the Hawks that he ordered them to do a video review on Monday on their day off.

"The way we played on Sunday was not Wildcats basketball," Knight said.

"It was one of the worst games we've played in a while.

"We've lost our last two, so something needs to change.

"We walked away confident and positive from that film session yesterday."

Brisbane (6-5) will aim to bounce back from last week's shock 101-83 home loss to Adelaide.

Former Wildcats duo Tom Jervis and Jermaine Beal are set to receive a hostile reception when they return to Perth Arena in Bullets colours.
