NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 28/08/2016

Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko has finished equal seventh in the Canadian Pacific Women's Open in Calgary.

Ko, 19, struck a three-under 69 in the final round to complete the tournament on 13-under.

Thai champion Ariya Jutanugarn finished 10 shots ahead on 23-under, earning her fifth trophy of the tour.

Second-place Sei Young Kim, from South Korea, finished four shots behind.

Ko was tracking well in the fourth round in Calgary until a bogey on the 12th hole put paid to her hopes of a high finish.

She was then unable to claw her way back into the contest, earnings pars in her next five holes before nailing a birdie on the 18th.

Ko, who earned a silver medal at the Rio Olympics, retains her world No.1 ranking despite the seventh-placed finish.
