Lydia Ko showed some encouraging signs as she completed an eighth-place finish in her second tournament of 2017.

The world No.1 closed with a second-successive round of 68 to be 11-under at LPGA Thailand, 11 strokes behind runaway Korean winner Amy Yang.

Kiwi teenager Ko's weekend tally of eight-under was bettered by just three golfers in the 70-strong field in Chonburi, including Yang.

It was a step up from her season-opening effort at the Women's Australian Open in Adelaide a week earlier.

Ko, who didn't drop a shot on Sunday, finished level with fading world No.2 Ariya Jutanugarn.

World No.8 Yang was a class above her rivals, finishing five strokes clear of So Yeon Ryu. A third Korean, Sei Young Kim, was another two shots back.

Yang's 22-under tally was a course record at the Siam Country Club's Pattaya Old Course.
