World No.1 Lydia Ko has rocketed up the leaderboard into a share of seventh place at the LPGA tournament in Phoenix, Arizona.

Ko fired a flawless nine-under 63 to shoot up from 40th overnight at Desert Ridge, her round including seven birdies over the last nine holes.

The 19-year-old Kiwi joins three others, including former world No.1 Inbee Park, on 16-under after three rounds.

Swedish golfer Anna Nordqvist has grabbed the lead with a blistering 11-under 61 to sit 21-under going into the final round, two strokes clear of overnight leader Ariya Jutanugarn (Thailand) and American Stacy Lewis.

Ko's opening rounds of 68 and 69 had left her well off the pace, but she found form with a vengeance on day three.

"I actually hit my shots into the green really close, and I had so many great looks for birdies," she said.

"I was stroking it well, so I just trusted my read and put a good stroke on it."

Ko isn't looking too far ahead going into the final round.

"I still think I'm going to be four or five shots behind, maybe more at the end of the day.

"I've just got to focus on my game tomorrow and hopefully have another low one."
