Canterbury and the Warriors have agreed to an immediate NRL player swap between back-rowers Shaun Lane and Raymond Faitala-Mariner.

The Bulldogs snapped up Faitala-Mariner until 2019, while Lane will link with the Auckland-based club on a one-year deal. Lane, 21, broke into the NRL last season, earning man-of-the-match honours in just his third game against Melbourne in the Bulldogs' return match to Belmore last season.

He scored five tries in an impressive rookie year, but fell out of favour with coach Des Hasler and has not appeared in the NRL this season.

Meanwhile 22-year-old Faitala-Mariner also debuted last year for the Warriors, scoring one try in 11 matches.

He has only played one game this year though, and while off-contract at the end of 2016, had been seeking an early release, according to Warriors recruitment manager Tony Iro.

"This outcome is mutually beneficial for both clubs," Iro said. "Ray had been seeking a release but we weren't prepared to allow him to move until we were able to find a suitable replacement. "In Shaun we have a player who brings the qualities we were after to strengthen our squad."

The Bulldogs also announced the signing of 20-year-old Wests Tigers' second-rower Lamar Liolevave until the end of 2017.

The former Australian Schoolboys and Junior Kiwi representative played his sole NRL game against Canterbury in round four last year.
