Late burst secures Auckland City win

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 17/04/2016

Auckland City stormed home with three goals in the last 20 minutes to beat Vanuatu's Amicale 3-1 and earn an Oceania Champions League semi-final against AS Tefana of Tahiti in Auckland on Wednesday.

Former Auckland player Adam Dickinson put Amicale ahead in the 24th minute, showing good control in the box before firing past goalkeeper Diego Rivas.

Auckland couldn't respond until the 71st minute, when a deep cross from Takuya Iwata was coolly finished by Darren White.

Ryan De Vries's 90th minute scorcher secured the win, with Joao Moreira putting it beyond doubt four minutes into stoppage time when he capitalised on a defensive error.

Auckland City join Team Wellington in the semi-finals after they thumped Papua New Guinea side Hekari United 4-0 on Saturday.
