Lee held a share of the overnight lead with Spaniard Sergio Garcia and American Johnson Wagner after firing a flawless opening seven-under 63, but struggled for the same consistency on day two.

Ranked 39th in the world, Lee opened solidly with two birdies on the front nine, including a pinpoint 142-yard approach shot on the par-four fourth to set up a two-foot birdie putt.

But he could only manage par for the closing eight holes after twice finding the rough in bogeying the par-four 10th.

Lee's two-round total of 132 is shared by seven others, four shots astray of outright leader Ben Crane, who added a second-round 63 to his opening 65 for a one-shot lead over world No.2 Jordan Spieth, Garcia and two others.

Tim Wilkinson matched compatriot Lee with a second-round 69, but dropped 16 places down the leaderboard to a share of 45th after carding a solid opening 67.
