Danny Lee has injected much-needed momentum into his PGA Tour season with a five-under 66 in his second round at the PGA Tour event in Mayakoba, Mexico.

New Zealand No.1 Lee surged 39 places to 31st at the midway point of the OHL Classic, making the cut by three shots on five-under.

Two other Kiwis won't contest the weekend.

Steven Alker's 72 and 70 left him on even-par while Tim Wilkinson was five strokes further back after shooting 74 on Friday.

Lee will hope to maintain his touch after a difficult start to the new season, having failed to finish inside the top-50 in three tournaments.

The 26-year-old is eight shots behind American leader Gary Woodland.
