Two late bogeys have crippled Danny Lee's already slim hopes of winning the latest PGA Tour event in Texas.

Kiwi No.1 Lee carded an even-par 72 on Saturday to improve one place to a share of 10th with a round remaining at the Houston Open.

He was flying high in fifth near the end of his third round but bogeys on the 15th and 17th holes left him 11 strokes off the lead on six-under.

Lee needs to win the tournament to have any chance of qualifying for the US Masters next week in Augusta.

He is on track to beat his best finish this season, an 11th placing at the World Cup of Golf in November.

Runaway Korean leader Sung Kang is 17-under, although his advantage has been reduced to three shots after second-placed American Rickie Fowler carded a 67.
